A Sense of Place
For something really unique, the King’s Visit is an exclusive look at grape growing and wine making here on Maui. An intimate and casual tasting experience set for no more that ten takes place in the historic “Old Jail”, a stout stone building that once served as captain James Makee’s private office and was then used as a jail in the late 1800’s. We’ll taste through our small-production single-varietal Ulupalakua Vineyards estate wines, including unreleased wines, back vintages and wines exclusive to these tastings alone. Six varietals are planted on 23 acres on the southern slopes of Haleakalā, where grape growing is full of interesting challenges, beautiful distinctions, and wines that represent it all. Experience the princely hospitality that Rose Ranch was known for, as we walk through the historical winery grounds and cellar and share with you the philosophies and practices that make these vines and their wines so special.
